Once again, I am participating with Team BC in the Breakthrough Challenge to raise money for breakthrough research at Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center.

Many of you know that 10-12 years ago Bo was successfully treated at Penn for stage 4 melanoma.  Many would call this a miracle, but the truth is that it was science that saved his life. We are so grateful that he had access to groundbreaking treatments developed through the kind of foundational research that this fundraiser supports.

But this year we ride with heavy hearts. We recently lost two good friends to glioblastoma and pancreatic cancer, a devastating reminder that there is so much more to be done. While these remain two of the toughest cancers to treat, Penn Medicine is at the forefront of developing innovative new treatments that may someday lead to a cure. 

On Sept 27 I will be riding 25 miles in honor of Mike and Chris, carrying with me what they and their families had to endure. Please consider making a donation to fuel breakthrough research, in honor of them and all the others out there battling cancer.

Funding for this kind of research is needed now more than ever. All the funds raised by riders go directly to fund research at the Abramson Cancer Center. Donations are tax-deductible and may be eligible for an employer matching donation.
